These terms cover any quote request, project engagement, or file exchange between you and CAD Drafters, a CAD drafting and BIM modeling company based in San Diego, California. Read them before you send us your first drawing. By requesting a quote, sending project files, or hiring us for drafting, BIM, or design work, you’re agreeing to what’s written here.

1. What We Do

CAD Drafters provides CAD drafting, BIM modeling, MEP drafting, shop drawings, rendering, and architectural or interior design support to architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and homeowners. We work across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, and we draft using software including AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structures, CATIA, Fusion 360, and BIM 360, depending on what the job calls for.

2. Quotes and Scope

Every quote we send is based on the information and files you give us at the time, including sketches, markups, notes, existing drawings, or a written description of what you need. If the real scope turns out to be bigger than what we quoted (more sheets, an added discipline, a level of detail that wasn’t in the original ask), we’ll flag it and confirm any change in price or timeline with you in writing before we keep going. We don’t pad quotes, and we don’t quietly expand them either.

3. What We Need From You

Drafting is only as good as what it’s built from. When you send us hand sketches, redlines, PDFs, point cloud data, or old drawings, we assume they’re accurate and complete for the scope discussed. If something’s unclear, missing a dimension, or contradicts itself, we’ll come back and ask rather than guess.

4. Turnaround Times

The 10–24 hour and 1–2 day turnaround figures you’ll see on our site describe typical timing for standard-scope work, not a promise carved in stone. Larger sets, multi-discipline coordination, or projects that need repeated clarification will take longer, and we’ll tell you that upfront rather than let a deadline slip quietly. Rush requests are usually possible. Just ask when you send the project over.

5. Revisions

Revisions tied to the original scope of your project are included as part of the work. We’d rather fix a dimension or annotation than argue about it. What isn’t included is a request that changes the underlying design intent, adds new sheets, or reopens a discipline that was already signed off. If a revision request crosses that line, we’ll let you know before starting and quote it separately if needed.

6. File Formats and Delivery

We deliver in the format you need. The options include DWG, DXF, RVT, PDF, and a handful of others depending on the software involved. It’s on you to confirm the software version (Revit year, AutoCAD release, and so on) before we start, since converting between incompatible versions after the fact can introduce its own errors.

7. Payment

Payment terms (deposit amount, payment schedule, accepted methods) are confirmed in writing as part of your specific project quote before work begins, since they can vary by project size and client relationship. We reserve the right to pause work or hold final files if payment terms aren’t met, though we’ll always raise that directly with you first rather than let it become a surprise.

8. Ownership of Drawings

Once a project is paid in full, the final deliverable files are yours to use for the project they were made for. CAD Drafters keeps ownership of our own internal working files, templates, and drafting standards. We may reference completed projects in our portfolio or marketing materials in general terms; if you’d rather we didn’t, tell us in writing and we’ll leave that project out.

9. Confidentiality

Project files, site details, and anything else you send us are treated as confidential. They’re shared only with the drafters and specialists actually working on your project, plus any vendor we need for a specific discipline, and only under confidentiality obligations. If your project needs a signed NDA before anything gets sent, we’re glad to put one in place first.

10. Codes, Standards, and Professional Responsibility

Our drafters reference relevant codes and standards (IBC, IRC, AISC, NISD, OSHA, AIA layering, ISO conventions) as part of producing a usable, buildable drawing. That said, CAD Drafters is a drafting and modeling service, not a licensed architecture or engineering firm. Where a project legally requires a stamped drawing from a licensed professional, that responsibility sits with your architect, engineer, or design professional of record, not with us. Final code compliance, permitting, and approval remain your responsibility and that of your local jurisdiction.

11. Cancellations

You can cancel a project at any point before delivery. If work is already underway, you’re responsible for paying for the portion completed up to that point, calculated based on the stage the project had reached.

12. Limitation of Liability

We stand behind the accuracy of our drafting work relative to the source material we were given. We’re not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages; lost profits, missed deadlines caused by permitting delays, or costs tied to decisions made downstream of our drawings. Where we are found liable for something, that liability is capped at the amount you paid us for the specific project in question. We’re also not responsible for delays caused by incomplete, inaccurate, or late source material on your end.

13. Website Content and Intellectual Property

Everything on caddrafters.us (text, sample images, logos, layout) belongs to CAD Drafters unless stated otherwise. You’re welcome to browse and reference it, but reproducing or reusing it elsewhere without permission isn’t allowed.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from a project or these terms will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms occasionally as our services or policies change. The effective date at the top will always reflect the most recent version, and continuing to use our services after an update means you’ve accepted the new terms.
